Pre-migration data maintenance

The contract is signed. Now what? Alma pre-implementation can be a stressful time. While information is provided in the way of manuals, and some help with strategies and tasks is available from Ex Libris, maybe you want more.
As a Voyager site, we were fortunate to have many tools available to us so that we could get our data into fighting shape for the migration.

I’ve put up my slides and related documents (including Access and Analyzer SQL for our cleanup queries) via the Colorado School of Mines Institutional Repository.

This session offers advice and ideas on how you can most effectively use your pre-implementation time:
  • The best ways to start learning Alma
  • How you can start organizing your team and be ready to hit the ground running
  • Data cleanup

See also an archive of SQL queries in the Community Knowledge Center for use via Voyager Prepackaged Reports.  These “Voyager to Alma Migration” queries may be helpful for doing data cleanup prior to migration. Most of the queries in the Mines Institutional Repository are included in this archive, plus many others.

Always check with your migration team and the migration documentation before embarking upon significant data cleanup.
