our vendor is setting up RTA, and we are experiencing trouble getting good enough bibliographic data into Alma.
They’ve asked us to find the answer to this question:
Is there an additional API to submit Bibliographic records into the alma database apart from what we see during the POL generation?

Yes – we have APIs for BIB records – see in https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/alma/apis/bibs/ .
Specifically, see create BIB API: https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/alma/apis/docs/bibs/UE9TVCAvYWxtYXdzL3YxL2JpYnM=/
In the RTA workflow that you mentioned above, I suggest to take the mms_id of the created/matched record, and update it using the update BIB API.

Hi, thanks for the reply!
As far as I can tell, if we give the vendor full read/write access to the BIBs API, they have full R/W access to our bibliographic database? Is this advisable?
Is it possible to grant write access to only the “Update Bib Record”-API?

As Ellen touches on, there are concerns when it comes to granting full RW access to the BIB API for a third party. This is particularly problematic for us as a consortium, where changes on a BIB in one IZ may affect the entire consortium via the shared NZ. It would be much preferable if the create po line api could either have support for a complete bib record or at the very least allow for a richer set of metadata being attached to the Order line record.
We have created a SF case (00803547) in this regard.
