Canvas

Before you start this step ensure you have the Target Link URL for the the Assignment, as described in the previous step: copying from integration profile.

In Canvas, edit the relevant LTI developer key:

In the LTI advantage services section, turn on the first 5 options:

Add “Assignment Selection” to the Placements section and edit the Assignment Selection section as follows:

Target Link URI – Copy the Target Link URI from the ASSIGNMENT section in your Alma integration profile.

Select Message Type – select LtiDeepLinkingRequest

Text – This text will be the name of the external tool and the title of the window that will open when instructors start building a Leganto assignment. For example, you could use “Read and Respond Assignment.”

Selection Height – The height of the popup window. We recommend the value 650.

Selection Width – The width of the popup window. We recommend the value 800.

In addition, add the Target Link URI link to the Redirect URIs:

Click Save.

To verify the integration, open the Assignments section in a Canvas course and click the “+Assignment” button:

In the assignment form, scroll down to the Submission Type :

  1. Choose “External Tool”
  2. Click the “Load This Tool In A New Tab” checkbox.
NOTE: Embedded assignments will not work well. We recommend all Read and Respond Assignments open in a new tab.
  3. Click the “Find” button:

A popup will open with the External Tools which have been configured. Find the Leganto Assignment tool configured above. Note the assignment tool will include a magnifying glass. Click the link to open the popup window and create a new Leganto assignment.

At the end of the process you should see the external URL populated, linking to the new assignment:

Save the assignment and publish it to students.
