Before you begin this step, ensure you have three URLs from the Integration Profile in Alma.

This links are generated in the step of creating an integration profile.

Add a new application

In Blackboard go to My Applications, and click the Add new application button:

Fill in the form:

Application name – Any name you choose.

Description – Any description you choose

Domain(s) – Your Leganto domain. For example if this is your launch URL:
                          https://na02.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/lti/v3/launch/EXLDEV1_INST/LMS_CANVAS_2
you should use: na02.alma.exlibrisgroup.com

Group – Select your Blackboard account

LTI 1.3 toggle – turn the toggle on

Login initiation URL – the 2nd link from the integration profile

Tool Redirect URL(s) – the 1st link from the integration profile

Tool JWKS URL – the 3rd link from the integration profile

Signing Algorithm – set to RS256

Click “Register application…”.

You will now see the following form.

Copy the 5 values marked in red and save them (in red the Alma corresponding field name)

Now go to:  System Admin > LTI Tool Providers

Press the “Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool” link and copy paste the “Application ID” from above  into the “Client ID” field and press “Submit”:

You end up on the “Accept LTI 1.3 Tool” page:

Deployment ID  – copy this value as you’ll be needing that in the next step. You should now have copied in total 6 values (5 copied above).

Tool Provider Custom Parameters – set this as follows:

lis_course_code=@X@course.id@X@
lis_user_username=@X@user.id@X@

lis_course_name=@X@course.course_name@X@ (needed only when using the Automatic Course Creation feature)

For more template variables see here.

Click Submit

Locate the tool in the “LTI Tool Providers” list and select “Manage Placements” from the drop down menu next to it:

Press “Create Placement”:

Label/Handle – This title will be seen by instructors when adding LTI links.
(Think about the student experience. What will students be looking for when you want them to click on the Leganto link, and what language will prompt them to click in the right place? We recommend naming Leganto something that ties directly to the student need, such as “Course Materials,” “Course Resources,” “Course Readings,” or “Reading List.”)

Type – Choose Course tool and allow students access

Tool provider URL – The 1st link from the integration profile.

Click Submit.

Copy the 6 values from above and send these values to the relevant librarian  so they can continue to Update the Alma integration profile.

You are done configuring Blackboard.
